The monks at Cong Abbey used to fish from this bottomless stone fish house on the peaceful river that flowed through their woods. Although the house is now in ruins, I can imagine seeing a monk through one of the open "windows," meditating, perhaps, as he fishes, hood raised over his head against the late afternoon October chill, sunlight dappling his brow just as it does the trees and gently flowing water. You can see him, too, if you add your own impression to the one I have painted here.
